| Taverham | 6 |
Watton Under 12's faced league leaders Taverham at home, and despite racing into a three goal lead, were finally overrcome by a stunning second half display that left them feeling shell-shocked. Taverham started well, and took an early lead, but Watton then produced some brilliant football to grab 4 goals in an amazing 20 minute spell. With 3 from James Beaumont and another from Ben Andrews, Watton seemed to be in control, but they knew they needed to keep things tight until half time. However, 2 goals just before the break brought Taverham back into the game. With the momentum now in Taverham's favour, Watton were expecting a tough second half, but despite their best efforts, they couldn't raise themselves to the levels of the first half, and 3 goals from Taverham saw them clinch an unlikely win by 6 goals to 4. Despite the massive disappointment, Watton will learn a great deal from this defeat, and should feel proud of their efforts so far this season. It will also help them to develop the mental toughness needed to take the final step from top 4 contenders to potential league winners.
